This is the first morning since the Jesusita Fire started that I've woken up to find that the fire has seemed to have gotten more furious overnight.
Mandatory evacuation orders have been expanded to include all areas north of Sycamore Canyon Road and Highway 192. That means the Westmont College area is now affected.
The fire is now in the Flores Flats area of Gibralter Road.
As the fire expands, and it seems to be expanding rapidly, people who have been evacuated now have to find someplace to go.
Many member hotel properties of the Greater Santa Barbara Lodging & Restaurant Association are offering Jesusita Fire evacuees and victims significantly reduced rates.
Current known properties involved are Fess Parker’s DoubleTree Resort and Cabrillo Inn at the Beach (waterfront), The Franciscan Inn and Casa Del Mar (West Beach), Santa Barbara Hotel Group (five properties across town), Holiday Inn Express- Carpinteria (including a pet wing!), and Hotel Santa Barbara (downtown).
Evacuees should clearly identify themselves as such to hotel properties.
UCSB's Hosford Counseling and Psychological Services Clinic is offering up to three free counseling sessions to individuals and families affected by the Jesusita Fire. For more information about this offer call 805-893-8064.
