For Your Holiday Viewing Pleasure

If you stayed in town this Memorial Day weekend, as I did, you're probably looking to take it easy for just one more day before it's time to head back to work.

State Street is no doubt still packed with tourists from Bakersfield and you've probably already been to I Madonnari at the Mission or maybe even hit the beach. With the election just a little over a week away it might be a good time to learn a little more about the candidates if you haven't already decided on whom to vote for.

Today I'm posting a couple of videos from Real Talk, the public affairs show hosted by Jerry Roberts which can be seen on the Santa Barbara Channels.

In the first one, Roberts sits down with the Democratic candidates for the 35th Assembly seat Das Williams and Susan Jordan to discuss their positions on hot button issues. There is also a one-on-one question and answer session with Josh Lynn and Joyce Dudley, the candidates for Santa Barbara County District Attorney.

In the second video Roberts talks with Second District Supervisor Janet Wolf and challenger Dan Secord. There is also a debate on Measure J, which is on the ballot in Carpinteria, between Lisa Rivas, Community Relations Manager for Veneco Inc, and Nathan Alley, Staff Attorney for the Environmental Defense Center.

And finally, because after all, it is Memorial Day, I've posted a video of an interview that local filmmaker Russ Spencer did with Santa Barbara resident and World War II Veteran Arthur Peterson. Peterson served with the 101st Airborne Division as a paratrooper/gunner. He jumped out of a plane with a machine gun in his hands for Normandy, D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge.

Enjoy.
