On this Good Friday, some former local reporters have gotten some potentially good news. It what could be a sign that the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals is willing to reconsider its decision that denied immediate reinstatement to eight reporters who were fired by Wendy McCaw's Santa Barbara News-Press, the appellate court has ordered the News-Press to respond to the NLRB's request for a rehearing on the matter.
This is significant because the appellate court could have simply denied the NLRB's petition for a rehearing without input from the News-Press. Lawyers for the News-Press have three weeks to file their response.
