Here are screen grabs of the four Santa Barbara newspaper's websites as of about 11:45 pm Thursday night. If you looked at the News-Press website (upper left) you'd hardly know that a major fire is raging in the city.
Returning to Santa Barbara tonight, I could see the flames from the 101 freeway, in Ventura!
Listening to the radio on the drive home, several of the Santa Barbara based radio stations had fire coverage including AM1290 News-Press Radio, KTYD and KCLU, broadcasting on AM1340. K-LITE was off the air, it's transmitter apparently having been knocked out by the fire.
According to KEYT as of midnight, the size of the fire is 800 acres and 60 homes have been burned.
School and road closure information as well as evacuation updates are posted on KEYT's website.
Santa Barbara County Emergency Operations Call Center phone number is (805) 681-5197.
As of 5:30 am the size of the fire is 1600+ acres and 80 homes burned.
