The L.A. Times debuted its new look yesterday.
Here's a side by side comparison with the new design on the left and the front page of one week earlier on the right.
Don't know what you think, but I'm not wild about the resulting scrunched up look to the paper.
Worse than the makeover is the fact that the first thing that I read in The Times every morning, has been dropped.
That would be the Morning Briefing column that appeared on page 2 of the sports section.
It was about a dozen or so brief, sometimes quirky and always amusing sports related items. It had been in the paper for decades.
I have a Thursday through Sunday subscription to The Times.
When a paper gets rid of the first thing that you turn to every morning, maybe it's time to get rid of the paper.
For those of you, like me, who are looking for something to fill the void left by the demise of Morning Briefing, may I recommend Left Coast Sports Babe written by the very witty Janice Hough.
It's official! The "respectable Republican cloth coat" that Richard Nixon's wife Pat wore is officially dead.
According to Politico; "The Republican National Committee appears to have spent more than $150,000 to clothe and accessorize vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family."
Even adjusting for inflation, $150,000 would still buy a lot of cloth coats today.
Apparently the money was spent mostly on shopping sprees at Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.
Haven't these people ever heard of Marshall's?
