Celebrity Circus?

This morning in the Santa Barbara courtroom of Judge Denise deBellefeuille, actor and Montecito resident Rob Lowe will find out if he can get some of the allegations made against him in former nanny Jessica Gibson's cross-complaint dismissed.

This is the first of two court hearings on this messy matter set to be heard between now and July 10th when attorneys for Lowe and Gibson return to court for dueling anti-SLAPP motions.

As for this morning's hearing don't expect to see any cameras in the courtroom. As of Tuesday morning there had been three request by media to allow picture taking during the proceedings, all of which were denied by the judge.

With no cameras in the courtroom, don't expect to see a personal appearance by Gibson's attorney Gloria Allred. Instead another lawyer from the Allred firm is likely to be in court to actually argue on behalf of Gibson.

Don't expect anyone from the News-Press to be there to cover the case.

Whether Lowe or Gibson will be there is probably a toss-up.

But I can guarantee that I will be there ready to blog.

Was very sorry to hear of the death of Al Steinman, the former owner of Moby Dick's on Stearns Wharf. Al, like the late Harry Davis of Harry's Plaza, was a true Santa Barbara institution.

I know it's a short post today but I'll be back later this morning with a Rob Lowe update.
