At The Film Fest It Cuts Like A Knife

It was a very cold Wednesday night out on the red carpet at the Lobero for the Santa Barbara International Film Fest's Virtuoso awards, which were created this year to honor five actors for their stand-out performances in 2007.

Showing up at the Lobero to receive their awards and talk about their work were Casey Affleck, James McAvoy, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page and Amy Ryan.

Amy Ryan on the red carpet.

My other red carpet photos from Wednesday night are over at my photoblog.

Marion Cotillard, who gives an amazing performance as Edith Piaf in La Vie En Rose, didn't escape the Lobero unscathed. She cut her hand on the sharp edge of her award backstage after the presentation.

There was a post-award party at Stateside Restaurant in La Aracada court. Affleck, McAvoy and Ryan attended and spent their time in the "V.I.P." room. Cotillard, besides cutting her hand, was reportedly a little under the weather and took a pass on the party. An underage Ellen Page, who won't turn 21 until next month, couldn't attend the party due to California liquor laws.

Last weekend I took part in the shooting of a video clip for the web that serves as a brief guide to the film fest for those coming here from outside of the area.

And no, my performance certainly won't win me any Modern Master, Virtuoso or Riviera awards. In fact, if I had a SAG card they would probably take it away.

But here it is:

My thanks to Gretchen Macchiarella and the Ventura County Star for allowing me to post of the video here. You can see it of course at it's real home on the web at www.Studio805.tv.

Ryan Gosling's appearance at the film fest Tuesday night to accept the Independent Spirit award made the notorious Perez Hilton Blog.

And lots of photos of Gosling at the Lobero on popsugar.com
